About Restoration Counseling Center
Rooted in Faith. Committed to Wholeness.

Restoration Counseling Center was founded in 2008 by Dr. Ashley Brooks, LPC-S, with a clear mission: to offer professional counseling that honors both the truth of Scripture and the best of clinical practice. At the heart of Restoration is the belief that healing happens when spiritual wisdom and evidence-based therapy come together in service of the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

What began as a vision for a small Christian counseling practice quickly grew into something more. In its early years, Restoration operated within partnering churches throughout the New Orleans area, providing trusted care within the context of local faith communities. While those partnerships continue, God's unexpected provision opened the door for growth and deeper impact.

In May 2012, Restoration Counseling established its first independent office in the heart of Mid-City, New Orleans. In response to growing needs and new opportunities, we expanded our services in 2020 to include statewide telehealth, making quality Christian counseling more accessible across Louisiana. Most recently, in January 2025, we opened a satellite office across Lake Pontchartrain in Mandeville, LA. Today, Restoration continues to grow as a thriving presence throughout the state, offering care that is spiritually grounded, clinically informed, and deeply relational.

As a nonprofit counseling center, Restoration is deeply committed to making quality mental health care accessible to those who need it most. We recognize that many individuals and families in Louisiana face financial and systemic barriers to care, and we strive to remove those obstacles whenever possible. In the past, we’ve offered sliding scale and low-fee counseling options, and we’ve partnered with schools, churches, and other organizations to create sponsorship pathways for their staff and members. We also intentionally accept insurance—even though reimbursement rates in Louisiana are significantly lower than in many other states—because we believe that affordability should not be a barrier to healing. Currently, we are building a scholarship fund supported by donations and fundraising efforts, with the long-term goal of serving every person who reaches out for help, regardless of their ability to pay.
Under Dr. Brooks’ continued leadership, we remain anchored in biblical principles and prayerful discernment. As we grow, we continue to seek God’s guidance, striving to be a light to individuals, families, churches, and businesses throughout the city.
How We Approach the Thearpy Process
At Restoration Counseling, our work is rooted in a Christian worldview that honors the transforming power of God’s presence in the healing process. We integrate biblical principles with clinical excellence, offering therapy that supports spiritual growth alongside emotional and relational restoration. Our counselors seek God’s wisdom in their work and create space for clients to explore faith as a source of meaning, identity, and hope.
Faith-Based
Holistic
We believe true healing engages the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and relationships. Our holistic approach considers each aspect of a client’s life, recognizing that emotional pain often manifests physically, emotionally, cognitively, spiritually, or relationally. Whether incorporating body-based practices, spiritual reflection, or relational repair, our treatment plans are thoughtfully tailored to support deep, lasting wellness.
Our team is trained in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches that prioritize safety, empowerment, and trust. We understand that trauma can impact how people think, feel, relate, and function, often long after the initial event. At Restoration, we meet each client with compassion and skill, working at a pace that honors their story and supports their journey toward healing without retraumatization.
