Service Description

This course fulfills the new 'Multicultural and Social Aspects of Counseling' continuing education requirement, but our goal is to go beyond simply meeting a requirement. Together, we'll explore how every client brings a unique story shaped by culture, family, community, faith, identity, and lived experience, and how developing greater curiosity about those influences can strengthen our clinical work. We'll learn through discussion, case examples, reflection, and practical application using our Orient, Observe, Engage, Apply teaching rhythm. You'll also be introduced to the SEE Framework (Self, Explore, Expand), a simple approach to helping us recognize our own lens, ask better assessment questions, and thoughtfully integrate cultural and social context into case conceptualization and treatment planning. Learning Objectives - Explain why multicultural and social context are essential components of ethical and effective counseling. - Recognize how culture, identity, and social context influence clinical presentation and treatment. - Apply the SEE Framework (Self, Explore, Expand) when assessing clients from diverse backgrounds. - Identify practical ways to integrate a multicultural lens into everyday counseling practice.
